How to stay safe when looking for a job
If you are then there are a few key things that you should do to ensure that you stay safe when searching for a job.
1. Personal Information
When you apply for any job, whether on-line or off-line, you should be careful when giving out personal information. If you are concerned about the information being requested do not proceed or seek advice.
2. Legitimacy
Never give out personal information, bank details or make payment to a recruiter unless you are completely sure that they are legitimate. Always research the employer or recruitment carefully before proceeding. Is the job offering more money than other jobs in the market? Is job offering opportunities outside of Philippines? Remember, if a job opportunity sounds to good to be true – it may be a scam.
3. Personal Safety
If you are asked to attend a job interview always tell friends or family where you are going and what time you will return. If you have any concerns about the interview do not proceed.
4. Payment
We will never ask a job seeker for payment for searching and applying for jobs. We would strongly suggest that you should be extremely wary of any individual, company or communication that requests payment in relation to finding you employment.
5. SAFER
SAFER (Safe Advice For Employment and Recruitment) was set up to help protect job seekers, employers and service providers from crime during the process of communicating and fulfilling/acquiring employment opportunities.
